Humans have been looking for the fountain of youth or the elixir of life for all of history, but it appears that maybe the answer to the question was here all along. Say hello to Turritopsis nutricula, the immortal jellyfish.
Turritopsis nutricula us about 4.5mm wide and long, about the size of an air rifle pellet. While most animals grow old and eventually die,
Turritopsis nutricula has a peculiar ability: It is able to transform itself from a mature state back to and immature state on a cellular level. In other words, it has the ability to reverse it's aging process and transform back to youth.
It's life cycle is like most jellyfish, starting as a polyp colony and maturing. But after reaching full maturity, it reverts back to its initial state, a polyp colony. The process is called “transdifferentiation”, and it basically makes the jellyfish unable to die, at least from old age.
Scientists now discuss whether humans may be able to isolate and apply to themselves whatever genetic trait that gives the Immortal jellyfish it's unique abilities. Perhaps this can be the key to stop the aging process, or at least slow it down?
Whether scientists manage to unlock the secret or not, the fact that there exists life forms that can reverse their aging process and go back to youth again only shows that Yehowah already have prepared everything neededfor his new world where our "flesh shall become fresher than a child's" and we shall "return to the day of our youth".
